This is the perfect breakfast dish. Easy to modify, or make the one here, it is inclusive of all those wonderful flavors and textures we associate with the morning meal. This would be great for Easter Sunday.

  • 6 slices of bread your choice here, but sourdough is the most popular)
  • butter or margarine
  • 3-4 cups baked ham, diced (or sausage)
  • 1 and 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or jack works best)
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cup cups half and half
  • 2 tsp. salt
  1. Remove crusts from bread.
  2. Spread with butter.
  3. Place in a greased 13x9-inch dish.
  4. Set aside.
  5. Dice ham. Sprinkle over bread.
  6. Distribute cheese on top.
  7. Beat eggs, cream and salt.
  8. Pour over ingredients in baking dish.
  9. Cover and chill overnight.
  10. Just before serving bake in preheated 350 degree oven for 30 to 35 minutes.
